What is a Newforma ID?

A Newforma ID is a single set of login credentials for everything you do with Newforma and Newforma PIM software. Use your Newforma ID to log in to Newforma® Mobile Apps and integrated cloud storage services (Dropbox, for example), as well as projects managed via Newforma® Info Exchange and Newforma® Project Cloud websites.

Does Newforma ID cost anything?

Newforma ID is simple, secure and free. There's no catch. No cost. No confusion. Just the easy-to-use productivity you expect from Newforma.

What is the Newforma® Mobile App suite?

The Newforma Mobile App suite currently consists of 7 apps:

Newforma Plans, Newforma Capture, Newforma Tasks, Newforma Project Email, Newforma Project Teams, Newforma Punch List and Newforma Field Notes

All seven Apps work in conjunction with Newforma Project Center, 10.7. Newforma Plans, Newforma Capture, Newforma Tasks and Newforma Project Teams also work with Project Cloud.

What mobile devices are supported?

What Newforma products or services are required to use the apps?

Currently, all of the mobile apps must be used in conjunction with Newforma Project Center / Newforma Contract Management or Newforma Project Cloud. In addition, the mobile apps depend upon certain components of the Newforma PIM solution as sources of project data, or as the location where mobile app data is stored as an integral part of the project record.

Additionally, for Newforma Project Center, the Punch List capabilities, provided via Plans, Capture and Tasks mobile app, also require Newforma Contract Management.

Who can use the Newforma Mobile Apps?

For Newforma Project Center users, Any project team member who has been invited to participate in a project that is available through Newforma Info Exchange can use the Newforma Mobile Apps to access project information, appropriate to their role on the project. You do not have to be a Newforma Project Center customer in order to use the Newforma Mobile Apps; you just have to have been invited to participate in a project that is available through Newforma Info Exchange, hosted by a Newforma Project Center customer.

For Newforma Project Cloud users, any project team member invited to the project can the Newforma Mobile Apps to access project information.

How do I get the apps?

The apps are individually downloadable for free, from the App Store for iOS devices, or from Google Play for Android devices. You can download one or more apps at any time.

What else must I do / know to use the apps?

As noted above, the Newforma Mobile Apps work in conjunction with Newforma Project Center, Tenth Edition. The apps will not work with earlier versions of Newforma Project Center and Newforma Info Exchange. Newforma Project Center customers must upgrade their implementation to Tenth Edition or higher in order to use the mobile apps in conjunction with their projects. Under Newforma’s subscription licensing model, the upgrade to the latest release is available to all current subscribers at no additional charge.

If you are an external project team member, that is, a project team member who is connecting to a project that is accessible through another company’s Newforma Info Exchange server, you will only be able to use the Newforma Mobile Apps if the company hosting the project has upgraded their Newforma implementation to Tenth Edition.

Also, all users of the Newforma Mobile Apps must register for a Newforma ID. See the FAQ item below, “How do I login to the Newforma Mobile Apps?”, for more information.

What does the Newforma Mobile App Suite cost?

You may use each app on any one project at a time at no charge. Projects for which the owner or other responsible party has opted to provide you with unlimited mobile access do not count against your one free project. This would include your use as an internal project team member in an organization which has subscribed to the Newforma Mobile App suite as an element of their enterprise agreement.

Additionally, you may use the Project Teams app on all projects on which you have been invited to participate at no charge. In order to use the other apps on more than one project at a time, you must subscribe to the Newforma Mobile App suite in one of two ways:

Enterprise Subscription

Available to all Newforma Project Center users within companies which subscribe to the Newforma Mobile App Suite in their enterprise agreement

Individual Subscription

Available to all project team members, not covered above, who want to use Newforma Mobile Apps on more than one project at a time.

This subscription costs $24.99 per user per month, or $249.00 per user per year. This subscription is available within the Mobile apps and at my.newforma.com

How does “one project at a time” work?

Each app displays a list of projects when you log into the app.

Projects for which you have unlimited mobile access are listed first, under the heading, “Unlimited Use”. You may select and use as many of these projects as you wish, subject to the capacity of your mobile device.

If there are other projects to which you have been invited, but for which unlimited mobile access has not been provided, you may select from those projects, under the heading, “Use 1 Project for Free”.

When you select such a project, its information is synchronized onto your mobile device. When you select another project from this group, you will be given a choice – you may either upgrade to the Newforma Mobile App subscription, allowing you to load any number of projects, subject to available device storage, or you can delete the previous project information for that app from your device before loading the new project. Since all project information is synchronized with the hosting server, no project information will be lost; it is merely removed from your mobile device. This process is simple and quick, involving the selection of this option and a confirmation message. Then you can select another project and download its project information for that app. You may have different projects loaded in each of these apps without needing to upgrade to the Newforma Mobile App subscription.

How do I login to the Newforma Mobile Apps?

In order to use the Newforma Mobile Apps, you must login to the apps using your Newforma ID credentials. Newforma ID is a free service that provides access to all of your Newforma Projects, product and services through a single sign-on. Registration with Newforma ID is available from within the apps or at my.newforma.com. Registration is free and no credit card is required to complete your registration.

How do I get connected to companies that I am working with?

After registering with Newforma ID, you can easily search for connections to companies you are working with and connect to them with a single click. Once connected to a company, all of your projects with that company are available through Newforma ID.

How do the apps connect to my project information?

When you login to the apps via Newforma ID, the app displays a list of all of the projects that are currently associated with your Newforma ID. Select a project and the data associated with that project is synchronized with your mobile device. Your Newforma Mobile App accesses the appropriate project information. Project information is synchronized between the server and your mobile device whenever the app senses an internet connection.

Note: the app must be open in order to synchronize your data.

Do I have to have an Internet connection in order to use the Newforma Mobile Apps?

You must have an Internet connection in order to initially download and authorize the Newforma Mobile Apps, and to synchronize your project information. Following that initial synchronization, the Newforma mobile apps work even if there is no current Internet connection. Whenever an Internet connection is available, project data associated with a mobile app is automatically synchronized with your mobile device; the app must be open in order for the synchronization to take place.

Note: Mobile data charges may apply for synchronization over an available mobile data connection. Synchronization over an available secured, free Wi-Fi connection should avoid these charges.

Which version of Newforma Project Center is in use for a particular project?

If you are an external user and do not know which version of Newforma Project Center is being used on the project to which you have been invited, go to the login page for Newforma Info Exchange which is included in the account notification you received when invited to join the project. On the login page, near the bottom, you will see a version number.

Based on that version number, download the appropriate version of the Punch List app as indicated above.
